What does PAS24 mean?
"PAS 24:2016 Enhanced security performance requirements for doorsets and windows" is a recognised test, to ensure that windows and doors are all tested to the same standard.
The standard aims to resist a physical attack on windows and doors by the casual or opportunist burglar. PAS 24 is one of the recognised standards for windows and doors when looking to comply with Part Q of the Building Regulations which cover new domestic buildings.
When does my project require PAS24 approved windows and doors.
Any new-built home and most new extensions will require PAS24 windows and doors to be signed off by building control.
If you are just replacing windows and doors in your house or building a shed in the garden, you might not need PAS24 windows and doors.
If you are in doubt if your project is required to meet building regulation we recommend talking to your local planning office.
What does it mean when my windows and doors are PAS24?
When you require a PAS24 compliant window or door we will manufacture it to the same specifications that have passed the test. Often that means upgrading the hinges/locking system to a slightly higher spec.
