When producing windows and doors, you naturally have a high consumption of wood and therefore it is important to think about the environment. Read on to find out more about what Klar does for the environment.
Once a year, Klar employees put on their wellies and grab a shovel and work a whole day to plant as many trees as possible. Last time in May 2022, we planted 2.500 trees. It was hard and fun!
The Forest Stewardship Council is an international certificate and means that the wood comes from a forest where no more wood is felled than is grown. Wildlife is preserved and workers are guaranteed proper wages, safety and training. The certificate is backed by green organisations such as WWF, Greenpeace and World Forests.
Since 2019, Klar has been paperless! This means no paper is used for production purposes. Everything is digital! It doesn't sound like much, but companies' consumption of paper is absolutely huge. Especially in factories, where thousands of different elements and a sea of different production stages have to be kept track of.
It is possible to get paints that last exceptionally well! Paints that don't spoil nature or are dangerous for families with children. Of course, we have chosen this in our production.
The choice to use slow-growing pine and heartwood in the sill is not accidental. The high percentage of core means it doesn't give as much, but even smarter is the wood's natural protection. The cells transform, seal and shield against moisture.
Then a substance called pinosylvin is naturally embedded in the heartwood, killing bacteria and fungi. We add additional layers of paint and waterproofing, with a special AkzoNobel 3 component designed to withstand the Danish climate. Our paints are, of course, free of hazardous toxins. For the sake of nature and your family.
