How to get started
There are a few things that are important to know when you consider to purchase windows from Klar:
Klar does not have physical stores, only an online store where you can select products. In this way we can keep our prices as low as possible for you
It is a good idea to start by determining your needs for example whether you wish for improved energy performance, sound reduction or other functions. This will simplify the decision-making process when selecting windows
Why purchase new windows?
Different reasons for purchasing new windows can be:
Window failure e.g air leakages
More insulation and energy savings
Heightened Safety
Noise concerns
Resale Value
Replacing your existing windows to meet the latest standards is a worthwhile investment that can lead to significant cost savings since old windows are mainly responsible for the largest heat and energy leakages.
Consider also the long-term financial benefits of reduced future maintenance and energy costs by upgrading your windows, which can increase the value of your property.
1. Measurement
If you are unsure about how to measure your window correctly, you can get help by reading our measurement guide. It’s easier than you would expect and it doesn’t need to be precise down to the millimeter. Additionally you can save a significant amount of money by doing it yourself.
After choosing the type of window you want for your home, Klar will ask you to put in the specific dimensions of the window you want, whether it’s an old window being renovated or entirely new, which will then give you the correct price in the end!
Klar provides two columns, where you just have to fill in the WIDTH and the HEIGHT of the window

2. Types of windows
At Klar you can choose between windows that can open outwards:
Top Guided windows: can be opened partially from the top and guided along a track, handle is at the bottom of the window, offer a modern and sleek aesthetic
Top swing windows: can be opened partially from the top, but top of the window swings inward for optimal ventilation
Cottage windows: available in a variety of styles and panes per sash, traditional and idyllic style
Georgian windows: constructed with a single piece of dual-glazed glass covered by horizontal and vertical glazing bars ( at Klar glazing bars are always made of sturdy aluminium), multiple panes, traditional style
Combination windows: combination of more than one window frame, outstanding aesthetic, lets in more natural light, can be ordered in any preferred combination of windows
Casement windows: side hung with hinges that allow for opening outwards or inwards, wide variety of designs for example top or bottom-hung configurations, do not have glazing bars allowing maximum light entrance, sleek and contemporary look
Opening floor to ceiling windows: stretch from the floor up to the ceiling, cutting down on lighting costs, seamless indoor-outdoor experience, creates an illusion that expands space, offer an outstanding aesthetic
And windows that are stationary and cannot be opened:
Fixed windows: do not have hinges and thicker frames, budget friendly, easy to clean, increased security due to the inability to open the window
Outward-opening windows provide ventilation and easy cleaning from the inside, whereas fixed windows are commonly used to increase natural light where ventilation is less needed.
3. Choosing materials of the windows
At Klar you can choose between two different materials:
Pinewood + Aluminium
The powder coating of the external aluminium profiles gives the elements a particularly durable and extremely weather-resistant surface
Strong and light metal protects the wood from sunlight and rain and cannot rust
Maintenance free!
Highly insulating
Our wood/aluminium products feature mitred corners, where the bottom and side of the window meet at a 45-degree angle, creating a clean and modern look
+5 years extra warranty
Pinewood
Naturally strong and durable material
Higher maintenance needs e.g repaint every 7-10 years, however lack of need for replacement
Higher costs upfront
Natural appearance, traditional & high-quality aesthetic
Klars recommendation:
Klar always recommends Pinewood + Aluminium windows as the benefits undoubtedly outweigh the minor drawbacks of aluminium-clad windows. Even though the initial payment is higher, aluminium-clad windows provide the best value for your money since they are made from a sturdy material that requires minimal maintenance and provides excellent insulation.
4. Glazing & Types of glass
At Klar you can choose 2 layers or 3 layers of glass panes:
Triple-Glazing
Three panes of glass equally spaced within a frame instead of two, thickness of the sheets of glass can vary
More efficient heat retention and energy efficiency compared to double glazing
Does not necessarily reduce noise compared to double glazing and less solar gain
Legally required for homes
Energy certified A
Double- Glazing
Made of two panes of glass sealed into framing material, leaving an air space between, creating an insulating layer between the different temperature zones indoors and outdoors
Effectively reduces heat loss
Increased property value
Budget-friendly
Works well for summer houses and cottages
Klars recommendation:
Triple-glazing is a must for homeowners (a requirement in the northern countries), it can increase a home's efficiency to an even greater extend than double- glazed windows. The more windows with triple glazing are installed, the greater you will profit from the actual benefits so that you may no longer need radiator which reduces the monthly energy bills
Types of Glass
You will have the choice between:
Clear glass: commonly used for most purposes
Acoustic glass: characterized by reducing sound
Sun protective glass: blocks the sun’s heat, looks darker than clear glass, recommended when windows face south/southwest
Satinovo: modern type of raw glass which offers the look of frosted glass but has a silky surface, allows for more privacy, suitable for bathrooms
More options can be found on our website
5. Blinds and Mosquito Nets
Klar also offers new custom-measured blinds and mosquito nets for your windows. You can choose between four different fabric types which are Oeko-tex certified:
Polaris: offers the most sunlight coming through, darkens the room about 60%, silhouettes outside are hardly visible, matte tone.
Life Reflex: a mesh-like fabric with medium sunlight blocking, darkens the room about 70%, silhouettes almost invisible, glossy and shiny tone - light reflective looking.
Neo: a double-layered honeycomb structure that offers increased colour absorption and a sophisticated expression, honeycomb also doubles up as effective insulation, preventing heat from entering in the summer, and prevent it from leaving in the winter, darkens the room about 80%, silhouettes almost invisible.
Neo BO: provides a black-out experience with this double layered honeycomb technology, honeycomb provides effective insulation, preventing heat from entering in the summer, and prevent it from leaving in the winter, darkens the room about 90%, silhouettes outside are absolutely invisible.
